This course examines key aspects of how law firms operate in a commercial context.  It focuses on the fundamentals of effective financial management – profit and cash. Trainees will explore the importance of managing a firm’s cashflow and examine how time recording and transaction management impact on profitability and how quickly their firm gets paid. The course features a case study which allows trainees to assess the effect of different approaches to time recording, billing and managing a firm’s cash. It covers law firm key performance indicators and affords trainees the opportunity to try some basic calculations.  On completion of this course trainees will understand how they can adapt their behaviour to contribute most effectively towards their firm delivering strong financial results.
